Siberian Husky Leather tracking harness – dog harness for Siberian Husky
You are about to purchase tracking harness for your dog.
Here are few key futures you need to consider.
Do not make your decision before you V-mark whole list (it is small list):
1.Harness should be light weight – so your dog can track up to 12-15 miles and not get tired.
2.Harness should not restrict dogs movement – design should be non restrictive
3.Stress points should be reinforced by stitching (hand stitching), rivets will also do, but handstitching is better.
4.Look for adjustable harness so you can use it as your dog grows.
5.Harness should flexible enough – not to cut into dogs skin.
General “Woof” Tip: One of the things I would like to pay your attention at:
There are many resellers around the Internet which are not direct makers and sometimes don’t even know how and what for products they sell are made.Ask right questions to find out if you deal with main source or if you are going to pay extra money just because product you are about to purchase went through 2-4 extra hands before it reaches you.I like to save extra buck and it won’t harm you either, so check if you are purchasing product from main source. Most of the times if you ask for a small change in size adjustment, only maker will be able to do it for you.
Now here are some tricks manufacturers use to play with you and price.
Learn those little techniques so you know to avoid paying extra money.
1.While there are many Amish communities where excellent quality leather products handmade, don’t take it for granted.
Not all Amish made dog products so well designed and so good crafted. Search Internet, look at the pictures, ask questions, rely on your personal judgment.
2.Leather is heavy material, it has weight, some companies in order to impress you with so called “protection” for upper back area will use large piece of leather,
sometimes this part weights as whole half of the harness. Be careful, this part can be crafted in more gentle way with much less material, therefore making
tracking harness lighter, therefore better for tracking.
3.Straps should be somewhere around 1 inch – 1 1/4 inch. When you see harness with wider straps it is probably agitation/protection harness. The reason again – less weight, better for tracking.
some manufacturers prefer to keep one model which they can offer as mutli tasking harness. Non agitation harness will do the job as well as natural tracking harness.
In order to persuade you purchase this harness they will say that this harness is stronger because of wider straps.
Did you know that you can pull truck on 3/4 inch leather strap? yes – leather (quality one) is extremely strong material. do you think your dog needs more that this for tracking?
Correct – no. 1 inch – 1 1/4 inch width is also too much BUT you must choose balanced width so it will not twist around causing rubbing during active tracking.
Remember – it is more about design and assembling stress points in good order (stitching preferably)
I think now you are well educated to go and pick up good quality tracking harness.
One more thing – price range.
Good nylon harness should starts around $29-35 and should not cost more that $50 for largest sizes.
Flor the leather harness look for $45-50 starting price (less that this probably means that quality or materials are cheap) and should not climb higher than $60-65.
You are welcome to contact me if you find more expansive harness for tracking, i will gladly give my advice (worth it or not)
Good luck with purchasing tracking harness for your dog. I like this process and excitement of getting some nice outfit for my best friend.
